Tell Congress to Stop the 2022 Medicare Cuts
It’s Down to the Wire: Tell Congress to Stop the 2022 Medicare Cuts
We need your help to urge Congress to take action on the pending and drastic ten percent Medicare cuts coming in January 2022.
Emergency physicians will face this cut through a combination of reductions due to sequestration and Medicare’s “budget neutrality” requirement – cuts that would jeopardize your livelihood and your patients’ access to lifesaving emergency care at the worst possible time.
Last Friday, Congress passed a “Continuing Resolution (CR),” a funding mechanism to prevent a government shutdown. Despite the urging of ACEP and the entire health care community, the funding deal did not address these drastic and imminent cuts. The CR funds the government until mid-February 2022, potentially closing the door to an opportunity to address the payment cuts before they are set to take effect on January 1, 2022.
Now, we must press Congress to address the payment cuts through a standalone bill before adjourning for the year.
Click here to act quickly to address this critical issue for emergency medicine and patients who need lifesaving emergency care – we have only a few days, at best.
Although we believe broad systemic reforms to the payment system are needed, until Congress begins the complex process of identifying and considering potential long-term reforms, we are urging legislators to ensure much-needed stability now for emergency physicians and other health care professionals who remain on the frontlines of the most significant public health crisis of our time.
Thank you in advance for your advocacy on behalf of emergency physicians and the patients you treat.
