Legislative Update – Week of March 14
The coming week will bring both the “Wearing O’ the Green” on St. Patrick’s Day and the House and Senate deadlines for moving proposals out of their substantive committees. Barring individual or wholesale bill deadline extensions, members in both chambers will need to have moved their bills out of committee and to the floor by Thursday, March 17, or the proposals will be sent back to the Rules or Committee on Assignment.
After this week, both chambers will take a one-week break between March 21 and March 25. They will retu for 3 weeks in April to move bills from the opposite chamber and to develop some type of budget for the coming year.
